Holiday Christmas light in the trees with a festive small town America Kettle Corn Stand. Kettle corn was introduced to the United States in the 18th century. It is referenced in the diaries of Dutch settlers in Pennsylvania circa 1776.
It was a treat sold at fairs or consumed at other festive occasions. The corn, oil, sugar and salt together is cooked in a cast iron kettle, or possibly a Dutch oven. This produces a noticeable sweet crust on the popcorn; however, this method requires constant stirring or the sugar will burn.

Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country’s cause. Honor, also, to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as he best can, the same cause.- Abraham Lincoln

The United States is the only country with a known birthday. James G. Blaine.
“So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania! Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado! Let freedom ring from the curvaceous peaks of California! But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia! Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee! Let freedom ring from every hill and every molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.” Martin Luther King Jr.
“In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved.” Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Happy Memorial Day and weekend! The Kick off to the Summer!
Land of the free and the home of the brave. “These fallen heroes represent the character of a nation who has a long history of patriotism and honor – and a nation who has fought many battles to keep our country free from threats of terror.” – Michael N. Castle (born July 2, 1939, an American politician who was Governor of Delaware from 1985 to 1992)
I would like to take this time to wish everyone a very Happy Easter! This past week I was in Arizona and off the grid spending time with my Mom and celebrating her 83 Birthday. A fantastic week and time.
There have been a few lightning images that have taken me years to capture to get all the elements to be in the right place at the right time. This was a shot lined up for the summer and captured it first time out in 20 minutes. Some things are meant to be.
Hope you enjoy.
In honor of Easter here are some easter quotes and passages.
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. (NIV)
And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name. (NLT)
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” (NIV)
Pope John Paul II
“Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song.”
Love doesn’t make the world go ’round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile. – Franklin P. Jones

Pumpkin pumpkin close up and personal. Pumpkins are one of my favorite plants in the garden. They really complete the fall harvest. This year we put too many seeds in the garden and ended up with only a couple small ones. Then this plant showed up in the front yard and was amazing to watch how big it got from one seed and plant. We always carve and and cook the seeds on Halloween and our Fall is super complete! Loved the way this pumpkin looked. Hope you enjoy this pumpkin close up abstract fine art.
