Lightning Thunderstorm On The Colorado Plains
I love it when these springtime lightning storms kick up on the Colorado farming plains. This is one of my favorite Boulder County views. Lightning strikes from this storm cell cloud with blue skies and stars above. What a beautiful sight it was. This is a four image stack. Panorama landscape view.

Leading Strike
This storm packed a lot of rain, so the only thing you can do in that case is find a place with a over hang, porch or park shelter. It was tough finding something with a good composition so here we are at McIntosh lake East end view to Longs Peak in the far distance. Longmont, Colorado, NE Boulder County. Number one is safety the number two is protect your gear.

Dancing Thunderstorm Cell On The Horizon
Star trails and blue sky above this thunderstorm cell lit up with lightning dancing on the horizon putting on a nice show. This is a three minute exposure done by stacking eight, thirty second exposure images in a row and stacking them to keep the noise level very low.

Fracking Lightning Storm
While driving around to catch this lightning thunderstorm I was looking for a good composition. These oil and gas fracking hoods all lit up really caught my attention with lightning strikes in the distance. This storm is heading further and further east. Started at about 9:30 pm and went to about midnight.

Budweiser Power Fine Art Print
Budweiser Power – Massive Lightning Thunderstorm all over the Anheuser-Busch Budweiser Brewery north of Fort Collins.
Lightning fact: Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) endeavored to test the theory that sparks shared some similarity with lightning by using a spire which was being erected in Philadelphia. While waiting for completion of the spire, he got the idea to use a flying object such as a kite.
During the next thunderstorm, which was in June 1752, it was reported that he raised a kite. He was accompanied by his son as an assistant. On his end of the string he attached a key, and he tied it to a post with a silk thread. As time passed, Franklin noticed the loose fibers on the string stretching out; he then brought his hand close to the key and a spark jumped the gap.

A sunset view of the airport with a light trail from an aircraft landing and the Rocky Mountains Longs Peak in the background. Vance Brand Airport is a city-owned public-use airport located three miles southwest of the central business district of Longmont, in Boulder County, Colorado, United States. The Airport is named after former NASA astronaut Vance Brand. It was started way back in the day by the flying farmers.

This communication tower really puts these lightning thunder bolts into perspective makes you wonder if there was static on the line when they hit. Can you hear me now….

Two Giant Lightning Strikes
Two Giant lightning bolt striking next to a wall of rain and this communications tower south of Boulder Colorado towards Golden, heading east to Denver. This is a view from central east Boulder County looking to the southwest towards the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Very active weather with a ton of lightning strikes, we were out of the wind and rain north of the storm a great viewing point.
