Elevation:  8,885 ft .  Crested Butte is located in Southwest Colorado, 28 miles north of the City of Gunnison.  Crested Butte is the eighth largest historic district in the state of Colorado.  This is a very cool ski town.   Back in the day was known for being the telemark skiing mecca.   Colorado at it’s best.

Fantastic autumn day in the Colorado Rocky Mountains back-country with views of snowcapped Rocky Mountains Independence Pass fall foliage scenic landscape early October view.  Independence Pass is a high mountain pass in the Rocky Mountains of central Colorado in the United States. It is at elevation 12,095 ft (3,687 m) on the Continental Divide in the Sawatch Range. The pass is midway between Aspen and Twin Lakes, on the border between Pitkin and Lake counties.

Crested Butte is a Home Rule Municipality in Gunnison County, Colorado, United States. A former coal mining town now called “the last great Colorado ski town, Crested Butte is a destination for skiing, mountain biking, and a variety of other outdoor activities. The population was 1,487 at the 2010 census .
