During the dissipation of a severe thunderstorm, many discharges of lightning that never appear to make it to the ground will appear to cling to the base of a cloud. Looking up at the cloud base, an anvil crawler will look like fingers of lightning underneath the clouds.

Springtime Thunderstorm On the Colorado Plains Wall Art

Springtime  lightning storms kick up on the Colorado farming plains.    Lightning strikes from this storm cell cloud with blue skies and stars above.  What a beautiful sight and night.

Each bolt can contain up to one billion volts of electricity.  Lightning reaches 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit, fours times as hot as the sun”s surface.
