Teepee Sunset Portrait

Some teepee facts: Teepees or tipi were originally used by American Indians as a portable shelter that could easily be moved if the tribe needed to relocate. They were built from commonly found materials like animal hides and wooden poles. The canvas of the tepee could be personalized by the inhabitant by painting on a tribal pattern or other design.

The first teepees were used by American Indians in the Great Plains. The name is derived from the Lakota tribe’s word “tipi,” which literally translates to “they dwell

Teepee or Tipi covers are made by sewing together strips of canvas or tanned bison hide (historically) and cutting out a semicircular shape from the resulting surface. The cover historically used buffalo skins; an optional skin/cloth lining; and a canvas or bison calf skin (historically) door. There may also be an optional, partial interior ceiling, called an ozan in Lakota, that covers sleepers and protects them from rain

Colorful indian corn from my garden. Love the colors in these. The Squirrels seem to love them too. I got this one before he did. We have had a battle over the grapes and the corn. I like to plant this for fall decorations with the pumpkins for Halloween and thanksgiving.
