Furthermore, the city of Boulder frequently acquires top rankings in health, well-being, quality of life, education, and art.
On November 7, 1861, legislation was passed making way for the state university to be located in Boulder, and on September 20, 1875, the first cornerstone was laid for the first building (Old Main Building) on the C.U. campus. The university officially opened on September 5, 1877

Country Storm Panorama BW
Fine Art black and White County Line Northern Colorado Lightning Storm panorama landscape. Chased this lightning thunderstorm down County Line looking for a good composition. Colorado lightning striking cloud to cloud nature putting on a great show above a barn and grain silo out in the rural Northern Colorado country. Chased this storm from Lafayette to Fort Collins. I stayed just out the the rain. Colorado storms come in fast and leave the same way. This one went north in a few directions and was moving at a fast pace.

North Metro Fire Rescue Station
Boulder County Colorado. Colorado weather at it’s best with a great storm in the afternoon going into the night keeping the temperatures down. The Lightning Storm chase started off in north Boulder County heading west to highway 36 on the foothills from Lyons (hoping for some images looking east from HWY 36) then heading south towards boulder. As I made my way west at about 8:15 pm I got out of the rain and on the side of the storm, perfect! There were some great Lightning crawlers but they were spaced at about 15 minutes apart making them very hard to catch on camera. Most of the major strikes seem to be hitting south of Lafayette and into Denver. I have certain shot compositions that I am working on so I had to see if everything would be in the right place at the right time but no luck and wasted some time. So I started off with a sunset on the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in North Boulder County hoping for a lightning strike. Next I headed back east on Nelson Road and then south on 95th street making a stop at Lookout Rd again hoping to get something good. The burst of lightning were incredible but spaced too far a apart in different direction making it hard to get on camera. The last stop was south of Louisville in 95th street south of Dillon Road with great Lightning burst. This shot is North Metro Fire Rescue Station #67 and spider lighting crawlers and one cloud to ground Strike. Just wish I would have gotten here a little earlier.

Reaching Out And Over Lightning Thunderstorm
Colorado Lightning Thunderstorm. This storm came in from the south, I was in North Boulder County and saw it hitting over boulder and the Flatirons. There were four award winning shots that I took with my eyes but could not get a good location to get that shot in time. It was hitting about every ten to 15 minutes and lightning bolts hit over Boulder about 8 -10 times, good cloud to cloud and to ground strikes. By the time I got here it started to die and go north. This is the 2nd shot in this storm looking NW from 75th Street, west towards the Rocky Mountains front range foothills. Lights on the right are from IBM and behind that is Hay Stack Mountain.
