Arches National Park Utah Castle Panorama

Arches Castle Panorama

Panorama view of the Castle in Arches National Park in Utah.  Wingate sandstone ( 200 million years old) – Orange-red rocks of the wingate sandstone are solidified sand dunes. A desert as large as the Sahara once drifted here. Wind blown sand were buried by newer sediments and cemented  into stone, eventually eroding to form the spires of the Castle and the high cliffs surrounding the Fruita area.

Chinle Formation ( 225 million years old) – Gray-green and purple layers of the Chinle Formation were deposited as volcanic  ash drifted down upon a low, swampy floodplain. Lowland conifer trees fell into the swamps mud to become petrified wood. Phytosaurs , crocodile-like reptiles 18 feet long lived in the shallow lakes and meandering rivers.

Moenkopi Formation (245 million years old) – Brick-red layers of the Moenkopi Formation are full of ripple marks and mud cracks, This was an arid, subtropical land of river deltas, tidal mudflats, and a shallow sea. Small lizard-like reptiles left footprints and swim smears in mud covered by shallow water.

Colorado Indian Peaks Wilderness Milky Way Panorama

Colorado Indian Peaks Wilderness Milky Way Panoram Art

A very large panorama view of the Milky Way over the Colorado Rocky Mountains front range, view to the west on the left of the Indian Peaks over Brainard Lake  and to the northeast on the right getting some cloud city lights reflection from Boulder Colorado.  This is my most favorite place in the world and one of the reasons I love Colorado and Boulder County so much.

It also has so many memories for me dating back to the late 70’s early 80’s. My few day there could not have been better.  It was like my father and sister were above in the heavens helping me out.  The only camping spot I  could get was the number 13, that is my sisters number, and it always comes  up in our family.  Lucky 13. There were a couple Bull Mosses bedded behind  me about 10 feet as I was taking this.  Pretty amazing and spooky at the same time.

Hope you enjoy this image as much as I did staying up all night  long to capture. This is a large 27 portrait images stitched and cropped panorama.  The 2nd panorama in this series.  This one is a little wider view.

You Are Welcome

You Are Welcome

You’re welcome Nebraska! These super thunderstorm cells come flying over the Colorado Rocky Mountains and head out east to the plains.  A normal spring summer day on the Rocky Mountains foothills is waking up to clear blue skies over the mountains.  By 1:00 pm the clouds start rolling in and building over the foothills sometimes by 3:00 to 4:00 it rains and clears by sunset and the best is when it kicks up at sunset and last till about 11:00pm.  Those are the storms best to photograph.

This is a seven image very large panorama of a supercell heading over Denver and out NE to the plains of Nebraska.

City Lights Boulder Colorado Panorama Sunrise

City Lights Boulder Colorado Panorama Sunrise

Nothing like an early morning sunrise in Colorado. This is a panorama view from Flagstaff Mountain above the city of Boulder Colorado with a city light view of  the downtown Boulder mall  on the left and the University of Colorado with colors in the sky at sunrise.  This very large panorama image of the city lights of Boulder Colorado is 8 portrait images stitched together. Prints for sale on line – City Lights Boulder Colorado Panorama Sunrise

This has to be one of my favorite places and drives.  It is amazing how high in elevation you go up in such a short distance.  If you take this all the way up you get to Walker Ranch and Gross Reservoir.  Beautiful place to have a picnic.
